Artist's Description

I was inspired by the beautiful surroundings and history of Truckee and its indigenous people. The Native American Indian people have a spiritually rich culture. Every aspect of their native costumes has an elaborate opulence of design and deep meanings that have been passed on from generation to generation. Their faces, and sometimes use of paint, are powerful images. It is my belief that this culture will bring wisdom and insight into my own life which I hope to communicate to others”.

Award winning Artist, Geraldine Arata is a native San Franciscan with a Bachelors of Fine Art Degree from San Francisco State University, and a Master of Fine Art degree from the Academy of Art University San Francisco. She and her husband, John Pruett, owned and operated Arata Fine Art Gallery, 450 Columbus Ave., San Francisco, . Among other locations Arata has had gallery representation, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and San Francisco and Truckee , California. And owns a Gallery in Benicia, California Arata has participated in several fundraisers, including the Joe Di Maggio’s Playground Fundraiser and the San Francisco Giants Wives Auction.
